Conservation work at Fermilab supports global initiatives such as enhancement of biodiversity and maintenance of healthy ecosystem services. Controlling invasive species, using prescribed burning, collecting and spreading native seed and monitoring endangered and threatened species are integral to effective, on-the-ground conservation.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of people both in and outside the lab, Fermilab continues to be a 6,800-acre ecological jewel.
